LYG Sports Roundup

A final roundup of the London Youth Games sporting events this term!

LYG football

Our boys’ and girls’ football teams represented the school and Bromley brilliantly at the final LYG football tournament, demonstrating excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day.

The boys progressed through the group stages to reach the quarter-finals before narrowly losing to a strong Haringey side. They showed great energy and teamwork throughout the tournament. The girls faced some very strong opposition but gave 100% effort in every match, remaining positive, resilient and supportive of one another. They showed great flexibility, playing in different positions, and demonstrated suoerb sportsmanship by stepping in to play for another school who were short of players.

A special mention goes to Kai for his outstanding goalkeeping, positive team spirit and kindness towards others, and to Leland for showcasing excellent skills throughout the day.

Overall, it was a fantastic day of football, and all of the students should be extremely proud of themselves.

LYG Paragames Athletics

Students represented the school brilliantly at the recent LYG ParaGames Athletics. Despite the warm weather and long waits between events, they showed excellent resilience and sportsmanship throughout. A special mention goes to Niyaz, who missed his 100m race due to an administrative error but responded with great maturity, and then also acted as a guide for Leighton in both the 100m and 800m events. Another mention must go to Mia H who not only won gold in the 100m, but was the fastest female athlete there!

The girls finished 3rd overall, with some standout performances and several medal-winning performances across the team. Well done to all pupils for their effort, determination and contribution to a successful day!
