Welcome to the Glebe School website. It is a great honour and privilege to be the Headteacher of a such a remarkable school that is consistently rated ‘Outstanding’. We are a large special school in West Wickham that caters to pupils with a range of learning needs and with a strong and long standing reputation which we are immensely proud about. Here at Glebe we are aspirational for our pupils yet we firmly believe that the development of character goes hand in hand with academic achievement and life long success. Encouragement, support and a personalised curriculum underpin this as well as our unrelenting focus on celebrating the pupils’ achievements. Through this positive ethos we are able to develop and realise the very best potential in our pupils; so we understand the value in never straying too far from these celebratory roots. It is our vision to ensure that we prepare all of our pupils to live life independently, responsibly and successfully.
We have designed a curriculum that is well-suited to our vision and which is regularly reviewed dependent to the needs of the pupils. Subjects such as Sport, Music, Drama, Art and Food technology sit alongside the core subjects of English, Maths and Science. This is supported with an array of co-curricular activities, clubs, trips and residential visits as well as Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy support.
The staff here at Glebe School are truly exceptional. They are dedicated, experienced and long serving with the highest of expectations which has shaped a culture where the pupils feel valued, safe and cared for. As a result of this the pupils feel empowered to overcome their fears by taking risks whilst embracing and learning from mistakes. Consequently, our pupils make exceptional progress from their starting points and enjoy being here at Glebe School.
